A system designed to make zone drawing and object placement easier, by snapping the cursor to grid lines.

Use case: Accurate excavation

  • Load a site context model or use the Site Context app and enter an address to generate your site context model (Note: You can excavate on any object you choose, not just site context)

  • Select the model you wish to excavate on

  • In the Element Properties, find the Excavation option to Create Excavation Zone

  • Click to start drawing a zone

  • The grid system appears

  • Now that the grid is visible, you have new UI at the top of the screen, this is your grid control panel

  • The label at the top provides instructions as you’re using the grid

  • The grid can have its scale adjusted to 11 preset cell sizes, in the example on the right, the grid is 2 meters wide and 2 meters long

  • You can also enter custom values for the cell sizes

  • The eye icon lets you hide the grid

    • This can be useful for tracing curvature or other unique shapes where the snapping might not be as helpful

  • When you click to start drawing an excavation, the grid will not move from that position, but you can still scale it up/down, or cancel the drawing to reset the grid position

Usage

There are many applications where snapping is useful. Anytime you want to preserve a very square shape, this will come in handy, as you know for a fact you are maintaining the angles you need. Accuracy is key for construction.

Use it with:

  • Excavation

  • Placement of certain paths

  • Placement of Fuzor vehicles/equipment/trees

  • Split geometry

  • Zoning
