Learn how to integrate your construction simulation into your flythrough project

The Construction tab of the Flythrough Animation App gives the user control over aspects of the 4D Schedule from the Flythrough App. This tab does not give you full control over manipulating your 4D/5D schedule. It is best to create and manage your schedule using our designated 4D App as it has many more features and capabilities. From this menu you can control where in your schedule you are, what phase is being displayed, the date and time display settings, and settings that control what information is being displayed.

To adjust the day in the 4D schedule use the timeline slider. The date and time are only applied to nodes that they are saved to and will be gradually transitioned between nodes that have differing 4D construction time stamps. Exceptions and Non-working days are be skipped and not displayed when transitioning between nodes.

This date and time will also be reflected in the Time of Day settings in the Scene Effects Tab. Fixing the Sun position will disable this effect, which is a good option if your flythrough transitions through days rapidly. Just like in the 4D Simulation App you can use the magnifying glasses on either side of the timeline to zoom in and out. Additionally, you can use the arrows to snap to either the beginning or the end of the timeline. The date picker in the center of these buttons will specify an exact date.

The Phase drop down menu selects a Phase specified by your Revit project to be displayed.

The Phase Filter drop down menu specifies if phases before or after the current phase are displayed.

The Planned VS Actual checkbox toggles display both the Planned and the actual 3D view in split screen.

The Horizontal checkbox toggles whether planned vs actual views are left to right or top to bottom

The Swap Pos. checkbox flip planned and actual.

The Playback Calendar drop down menu selects a calendar to control what days are considered non working days. For more information on setting a default calendar see 4D Settings.

Auto Generate 4D Schedule creates a 4D schedule based on the equipment and sequence animation tasks in your 4D schedule. A node is added at the beginning and end of each equipment and sequence animation task. The space between nodes is tailored to the speed of your schedule.

Flythrough Date and Time Captions

Learn how to display and control the Date and Time Captions in Flythrough

The Date and Time Checkboxes are exactly like the ones that you can use with in the 4D Schedule. They will control what information is displayed in the Date and Time Display in the top left corner. These checkboxes will apply to your entire flythrough project.

Use the left drop-down menu to select from display options.

The Font type defaults to Arial Normal (30pt). To change this, use the right drop-down menu. Use the associated paint pallet to select a font color

These settings are only applied to each node they are saved to. The Date and Time Display can also be dragged around the 3D view.

Flythrough Gantt Chart

This sections provides detialed information about the different displays that can be used to show task information from the Gantt Chart.

Displaying the Gantt Chart in a flythrough video is important when schedule information is required to communicate details. When displayed in the Flythrough video the Gantt chart retains columns and settings that are set in the 4D App.

Options to display the Gantt chart are located usder 4D Schedulein the Construction tab. Each of them applies to the entire project.

The Show Tasks button toggles display of the Task Table and the Gantt Chart.

The Toggle Graph checkbox toggles display of the 5D graph.

The Gantt Chart and or Graph are always displayed below the 3D view in the Flythrough Video. Both the Graph and Gantt Chart can be displayed at the same time and will appear above and below one another

Show Gantt Chart checkbox toggles the display of a resizeable gantt Chart. This Gantt Chart can be dragged around the view. to resize the Gantt Chart use the handles that appear when hover over its bounds.

The Show Task List checkbox toggles display of active tasks in the current frame. The task list will resize as tasks appear and disappear from the list.

Flythrough Calendar

Learn how to add a calendar to the Flythrough animation and control its settings

The Toggle Progress checkbox toggles display of the progress bar.

The Show Filter Color Legend checkbox toggles display of filter highlight colors set in your construction project.

The Hide date text on progress bar checkbox toggles whether dates on the progress bar are hidden.

Above is the Progress bar this can be used to display how far you are along in your schedule. You can adjust this time frame to fit to your entire schedule or just display the progress in a general time frame; Month, Week, Year. Use the Change Progress Bar paint palette to change the color of the bar.

Multitrack Animation

This section demonstrates how to use the Animation tab in Flythrough.

The Animation Tab of the Flythrough app displays all Sequence and Equipment Animations in your project. Each multitrack animation is represented as a collapsible list of animations associated with it. For each animation is a separate slider. To control an animation it must be enabled and applied to a frame.

The Enable checkbox enables an associated animation.

The slider controls the progress of the associated animation.

The placement in the sequence animation timeline applies to the node it is saved to and is be gradually transitioned between nodes with different sequence animation timestamps.

Video Exporting Render Settings

This section demonstrates how the different render settings affect the exported MP4.

When you select the Render button in the Flythrough Animation Toolbox you are prompted by the Render Export Window which allows you to select various render settings.

The Video Quality tab allows you to select from three general render quality options using the radio buttons. Draft is the lowest Render setting.

The two drop down menu control anti-aliasing options in your render. Anti-aliasing smooths edges. Higher degrees will increase the overall render time.

The Video Frame Rate setting adjusts the frames per second of the video. A higher frame rate renders the video smoother. Framerate Options are: 16fps, 24fps, 29.97 fps, 30fps, and 80fps.

The Video Resolution setting controls the number of pixels in the exported video.

The Video Aspect Ratio changes the radio between the length and the width of the exported video. For each of these options the first number relates to the width whereas the second relates to the height.

Flythrough Audio

Learn how to add Audio to your Flythrough Project.

Audio Can be added to the Flythrough project. If Audio is added to the project, it will be exported with the .mp4 when the video is rendered. To add audio, use the Audio Tab in Flythrough.

The audio track file name is displayed at the top of the menu.

The Set Track button opens the file explorer to browse for an audio track.

Clear track removes the audio track from the project.

Saved Views

Learn how to use saved Views in your Flythrough Project.

The Saved Views Tab can be used to load visibility settings, render settings and camera locations from a particular saved view. Select the thumbnail on the saved view and then apply the change to a desired frame or take a new one to save the view to a cinematic frame.
