Point clouds are an ideal way to show site context. Some point cloud types can be dragged and dropped into the 3D view in order to load it.

Recap Point Clouds must be loaded into Revit and then Synced to Fuzor. For more information see Importing With Plugins.

When Importing a point cloud, You are be prompted by the following dialog menu. Supported file types for point clouds are .pts and .fls

The Import Units should be set to the unit that the point cloud was originally created using.

The Import Options checkbox should be checked if the file is standalone.

The Color Intensity checkbox should be check if the color intensity is in the range of 0 to 255.

The Specific Coordinate checkbox and Vector allow you to specify a 3D Coordinate in the project to load the point cloud. After checking this box, you can select an object in the 3D space to populate the X,Y, Z fields.

Point Cloud App

This section provides information on the Point Cloud app and its capabilities

...

The Point Cloud App is located in the Coordination Tab of the Fuzor App Menu.

...

The Alt + Subtraction Symbol hotkey opens the Point Cloud App. From the Point Cloud App, you can manage your imported point cloud.

The Point Cloud Definition slider controls the resolution of the point cloud.

The Point Size slider controls the size of each point in the point cloud.

The Automatic check box sets the Point Size based on your camera distance

The Triangles Size checkbox controls the size of the polygons formed when Adding physics to the point cloud

...

Your Point Cloud functionality is now per model in 2025. This means your triangulation, definition, and point size can be adjusted on a per-object basis, instead of globally applied to all Point Clouds. To accomplish this, the Point Cloud App has been removed in 2025, and the features will show up on the Point Cloud model itself (Element Properties) when selecting the object.

Use Case: Adjusting individual pointcloud files

  • Place a pointcloud in your scene

  • Adjust settings for placement and finalize

  • Focus on your pointcloud in scene (find it with GIS or visibility refit then focus)

  • Click the pointcloud

  • Look at the element properties

  • We’ve replaced the pointcloud app with a system that affects individual pointclouds, so the app settings have been moved here

  • There are options here to adjust your pointcloud triangle density and give the object physics

  • Add Physics means that your pointcloud will be able to have pedestrians, vehicles, paths, and egress routes placed on it.

  • Triangles size slider well tell the model how detailed it will be once complete. Choosing a small triangle size is more detail, bigger triangles means less detail but faster load times.

  • If you don’t like the level of detail you chose, you can reload the model using the element properties and start fresh

All of the original pointcloud app features still exist, you just have to click the pointcloud model once loaded into Fuzor!

Usage

In the past it was only possible to apply physics to all of your pointclouds at the same time. This process would make some pointclouds have varying degrees of detail, and give physics to models that didn’t necessarily need it, which can be a lengthy process.
