This section provides detailed information on the options available in the element properties.

The Element Properties opens whenever an object is selected. Depending on what kind of object you have selected different BIM properties will appear in this view.

The Element Properties primary function is to view and manage BIM Properties of the object that is selected. To add BIM properties to tasks it is best to use Data Automation.

Users can control Temporary Visibility Settings from the Element properties. For more information see Visibility Override.

Creates a task with your current selection. The following options are available after selecting this button For more information see 4D Construction.

Creates a new construction task.

Creates a new equipment task.

Creates a new demolish task.

Creates a new temporary task.

Temporarily reveal all objects. The Ctrl + Shift + R hotkey can also be used.

Temporarily Isolate selection. The Ctrl + Shift + I hotkey can also be used.

Temporarily Hide/Reveal selection. The Ctrl + Shift + H hotkey can also be used.

Edit the selection’s color override. For more information see Visibility Override.

Attributes are organized into collapsible tabs. To control what information is displayed you can use the checkboxes and the Filter button shown to the right.

The Fuzor Properties checkbox toggles display of tabs that are Fuzor specific.

The Composite Object Parameters checkbox toggles display of Navisworks properties from selection set parents.

The Show Empty Groups checkbox toggles display of groups that have no parameters within them.

Parameter Filtering

This section demonstrates how to filter the parameters that are contained within the Element Properties.

Opens the Parameter Filter App.

The Parameter Filter App controls what fields are displayed in your Element Properties Window. Each checkbox controls whether the associated object will be displayed in the element properties. To control display of all element properties, use the checkbox in the upper left corner of the view.

If Default Filters is checked the parameter list is populated with all of the existing parameters in the project. If unchecked the list will be populated with parameters that are specific to the family object that is selected. Display preferences of global parameters affects all objects globally. Whereas display preferences of family object parameters are only consistent between family objects. When Default Filters is unchecked the checkbox for each parameter can have three states.

The associated parameter is not displayed.

The associated parameter is displayed if that parameter is displayed globally.

The associated parameter is displayed regardless of the global preferences.

The Save Filter button saves your filter settings.

The Load Filter button loads previously saved filter settings.

Fuzor Properties

Learn about element common Fuzor properties and their functions.

Depending on the kind of object selected different properties will be displayed in the element properties window. Some parameters are purely informational while others are useful for performing specific tasks or functions.

QR Code generates a QR code to identify an object on a mobile device

Dismantle splits your Navisworks component up into multiple predefined parts.

Explode Group splits a Sketchup group into separate models.

You can also explode Sketchup groups by double clicking on the model in the 3D View. This manner will only temporarily separate the models from each other.

Use the Add New Group button to add a group to the element properties window.

Add a parameter with the + sign next to the group. New groups and parameters will only apply to the object that is selected.

If the object was imported via drag and drop you will have additional options.

The Calculated Volume displays the Volume of the object.

The Recalculate button recalculates the volume, This needs to be used after changing the mesh geometry

The Density displays the density of the object.

The Reset Density button sets the density to a value based on the render material name.

The Mass Estimate displays an estimated mass based on the density and the calculated volume.

Where ρ is the Density, m is mass, and V is calculated Volume.

Delete All removes the selected object.

Move Model Widget moves the model.

Reload model will reload the imported model.
