Linking Revit and Fuzor

This Section demonstrates using the Launch Fuzor 2020 Virtual Design Construction Plugin to create a live update link between Fuzor and Revit.

Fuzor currently supports Revit 2020–2024. If the Fuzor Plugin was installed properly you should see a Fuzor Plugin tab.

  • The Launch Fuzor button opens the Fuzor Revit Document Manager to sync your file to Revit.

  • The View Sync button toggles syncing of the view between Fuzor and Revit.

  • The Pause Fuzor button disconnects the live link between Fuzor and Revit.

  • The Link file Manager opens the Fuzor Revit Document Manager window.

  • The Edit Selection button selects and focuses on the selected object in Fuzor.

  • The Load Annotation button opens a Fuzor annotation file.

  • The Camera snapshot button opens a Revit window with the Fuzor view.

  • The FBX Replace opens a tool to replace a family object with an FBX.

  • The Place HoloLens QR Code button allows you to place a HoloLens QR Code in your Revit file for more information see HoloLens.

The Fuzor Revit Document Manager controls how your file is imported. From this menu you can select which files are opened in Fuzor. It is important to use the Fuzor Revit Document manager when you want precise control over how your Revit model is imported. The drop down menu underneath your document name specifies what Revit Views are imported.

The Detail Level drop down menu controls how rigorously the Fuzor file is generated. A Fine detail setting is very precise however it will take longer to load. For lower end computers use the Coarse detail setting.

The Coordinates drop down menu controls how the coordinate system is generated. Use the Shared option when using multiple files with locations in reference to a main Revit file. Use the Project Internal option to use a world coordinate that has been set in the Revit file.

  • The Export Geometry check box exports 3D Geometry to your Fuzor file.

  • The Send Views check box populates your Fuzor project with your Revit Saved Views

  • The Send Lines check box ensures that 2D Lines on model geometry as well as floating lines from linked DWG are synced to Fuzor.

You can also create a live link to Revit in Fuzor. The Edit button in the element properties window launches and automatically selects the associated object in Revit. When your project opens you will be prompted by the Fuzor Revit Document Manager. If there are any changes to either your Revit or Fuzor file selecting the Edit button opens the Merge dialog in Fuzor as well. For more information see Merge.

The live update automatically syncs from Revit to Fuzor. To see this work, change the location of an object in Revit and move it. The changes you made in Revit are automatically synced over to Fuzor.

Syncing Fuzor changes to Revit

This section demonstrates Syncing Fuzor changes to Revit.

Any changes that are made in Fuzor need to be manually synced to Revit using the Request Sync Back Button. This opens the Sync From Fuzor to Revit window where you can select individual changes and sync them to your Revit workspace. Changes are organized into categories.

  • The Checkbox selects a change

  • The View Button opens a new Revit View highlighting

Below is a list of all possible changes that can be synced back into Revit from Fuzor using this plugin. The changes are organized in the Sync From Fuzor to Revit window into the same categories.

Linking Archicad and Fuzor

This section demonstrates linking Archicad files for live update.

Fuzor currently supports Archicad 21-26. If the Fuzor plugin is installed properly you will see a Fuzor tab at the top of your Archicad window

  • The [Fuzor] Launch button syncs a file from Archicad to Fuzor.

  • The [View Sync] ArchiCAD to Fuzor button ensures that the view in Fuzor matches the view in ArchiCAD.

  • The [View Sync] Off button disables the View Sync.

  • The [Back Sync] Request Back Sync button syncs changes made in Fuzor to Archicad.

  • The [Annotation] Load Annotation button allows you to select an annotation to import from Fuzor.

  • The [Edit] Edit Selection button forces Archicad to select an object selected in Fuzor

Once your link has been created any changes made in Archicad will automatically be reflected in your Fuzor file. When syncing back to Archicad a dialog box will appear asking you if you wish to apply these changes. Press OK and your changes will be applied.

Linking Rhino and Fuzor

This Section demonstrates linking Rhino files to Fuzor for live update.

Fuzor currently supports Rhino 5-7. If the Fuzor Plugin is installed properly this is a Fuzor tab at the top of your Rhino Window. Fuzor cannot sync back to Rhino. However, it does support the live update feature from Rhino to Fuzor. Any change made in Rhino with the live link will automatically be updated in Fuzor. When the Launch Fuzor button is selected a dialog, box opens asking if you would like to sync your 2D Lines.

  • The Launch Fuzor button opens your Rhino file in Fuzor.

  • The Clear Fuzor button clears your Fuzor scene

  • The Sync Lines checkbox toggles syncing of 2D Lines.

Importing via the Navisworks Fuzor Plugin

This section demonstrates how to use the Fuzor plugin for Autodesk: Navisworks to import objects into Fuzor.

Fuzor currently supports Navisworks 2020–2024. If the Fuzor Plugin is installed properly it appears under the Tool add-ins Tab in Navisworks.

With the Navisworks Plugin updates are not live and you can only update from Navisworks to Fuzor. In order to Update you must select either Fuzor Plugin and then select merge in the popup in Fuzor. For more information on merging projects see Merge.

The Fuzor Plugin button Syncs your currently opened file to Navisworks.

The Fuzor Batch Sync opens a file browser for you to select multiple files to be converted into separate cache files.

The Place QR button places a HoloLens QR Code in your file. For more information see HoloLens.

The Launch Fuzor drop down menu selects the version of Fuzor to open your project with.

The Model Name textbox specifies a model name for the file to be synced as. This must be constant between syncs in order for the files to merge properly. If syncing a composite model from Navisworks each file name can be managed separately. this allows the user to merge new versions of an appended model with a new name to overwrite an old one.

The Sync Saved Views checkbox imports your Navisworks saved views over to Fuzor

The Sync Lines checkbox ensures that 2D Lines on Geometry as well as Lines from any DWG are synced to Fuzor.

The Properties show user unit checkbox toggles whether BIM properties use user set values or are automatically calculated.

The Mergeable Objects checkbox ensures that object IDs are generated using merge-friendly Ids otherwise IDs are generated in sequential order. Syncing in sequential order is faster however objects may not be mergeable after a file is closed and reopened or edited.

The Use IFC GUID checkbox ensures that GUIDs in IFCs imported into Navisworks are synced to Fuzor with the same IDs and not regenerated. This is needed to update GUIDs that are loaded into Navisworks from other software. By default, this is off to improve sync time.

Importing via the Civil 3D Fuzor Plugin

This section demonstrates how to use the plugin for Civil 3D to import objects into Fuzor.

Fuzor currently supports Civil 3D 2020-2024. If the Fuzor Plugin is installed correctly there is a Fuzor Plugin Tab in the top of your Civil 3D window. The Civil 3D Plugin does not use live link technology all updates must me re-synced using this plugin.

The Sync Lines checkbox includes 2D Lines in the Drawing when syncing.

The Launch Fuzor button in the Fuzor Toolbar opens the Sync Options menu. From this menu you can select to open your Civil 3D file with any version on Fuzor installed on your machine. The drop down menu selects the version of Fuzor to open your project with.

Importing via the MicroStation Fuzor Plugin

This section demonstrates how to use the plugin for MicroStation to import objects into Fuzor.

Fuzor currently supports Microstation Connect Edition 15. If the Fuzor Plugin is installed correctly the Fuzor Icon appears to the far right of the top toolbar. The Microstation Plugin does not use live link technology all updates must be re-synced using this plugin.
