You can open the 4D simulation settings by clicking the settings button at the bottom of the 4D simulation toolbox. There are many different settings that apply to 4D simulation. Some settings are organized into tabs whereas others are displayed in the 4D schedule by default. | |||||||
The Simulation Speed slider sets the speed of your simulation. it is directly associated with the other slider in Time Controls. | |||||||
The Auto Fill Duration checkbox ensures that the duration reflects the difference between the planned start and end. The Manually Schedule Tasks checkbox allows predecessor relationships and task constraints to be violated. | |||||||
The Fix Sun Position checkbox disables changing the sun position with respect to the time of day. The Hide Assigned Objects checkbox hides assigned objects. The Cross-Section Fill check box stops your objects from appearing hollow when sliding in. The Show Staging Pins checkbox toggles visibility of staging pins. The Show Predecessor Lines checkbox toggles displaying of predecessor links. The Auto-Scroll Gantt Chart checkbox toggles whether the schedule date and Gantt chart scroll when a task is activated. A task is activated when selected and when it’s start date is reached during playback. The Auto-Calculate WBS Dates checkbox ensures that parent durations include the duration of all of their children. The Auto-change font color checkbox toggles whether tasks with light background colors are displayed with black text rather than white. |

The Exclude WBS from Sorting checkbox retains WBS when sorting by columns. The Link Planned and Remaining checkbox toggles whether remaining durations are dependent on Planned durations. The Show Time of Day for Date checkbox toggles whether the time of day is displayed in the task table. The Constraints Override Links checkbox toggles whether a constraint or a task link has a higher priority when evaluating task durations. The Update Progress with Data Date checkbox toggles whether the remaining schedule is updated with the changing of the data date. | |||||||
The Task Progress Mode dropdown menu controls how logic links are handled when a predecessor has been completed before their associated logic allows. This setting behaves like the out of sequence progress setting in P6. | |||||||
The Total Float/Slack Calculation drop down menu controls how the Total Float of a given task is calculated. Start Float subtracts the Early Start from the Late Start, Finish Float subtracts the Early Start from the Late Finish. The last option uses the smallest of the two. | |||||||
The Calculate Link Lag Using drop down menu specifies which calendar is used to calculate the link lag of a given predecessor relationship. The length of the lag does not count non-working days. | |||||||
The Task Type radio button sets the task color based on its task type or highlight color. The Task State radio button colors tasks based on their status at the current day. | |||||||
The Emulation Mode radio buttons ensure that Fuzor handles your imported schedule properly. If using Microsoft Project or Primavera P6 make sure the associated radio button is selected. | |||||||
The FZM Export settings control how task filters and subcontractor filters effect what tasks and objects are visible in the Mobile Project. |
Caption Overlay Settings

The Caption Overlay Options Tab contains various settings that apply to the date and time display in the top middle of the 3D View. The overlay can display date information in a dd/mm/yyyy format or as the procedural date in the schedule. For example, Week 2 day 8 would be the second Monday from the beginning of the schedule. The Show Date button toggles display of the date. The Show Time button toggles display the of Time of day. The Show Week button toggle display of the week. The Show Day button toggles display of the day in the schedule. The Include Non-Working Time button toggles whether non working days in the playback calendar are used to calculate the day in the schedule. The Use P. Caption enables a caption that only appears in the Planned 3D View. The Use A. Caption enables a caption that only appears in the Actual 3D View |

The date display settings are located within general settings. To access these settings, click the settings button on the Quick Access Toolbar. Click the drop-down menu in the preferences panel of the settings menu shown the right. From the drop-down list select the preferred date and time setting. | |||||||
Vehicle Collisions
This section demonstrates how to toggle whether colliding vehicles are highlighted red.

| |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
If Ignore Vehicle Collisions is unchecked in the 4D Toolbox construction vehicles are highlighted red when they collide with objects. This is a good way to find errors in your construction animations or the specifications of a specific vehicle. For instance a crane colliding with objects in a specific phase could be an indication that the crane needs to be taller. |
Edit Calendars

---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
The Calendar Manager is located in the 4D Settings Menu. To open this menu, click the Edit Calendars button. You can use the Calendar Manager to create and manage the working days of calendars for your 4D schedule. The calendars created in the Calendar Manager are used to control non working days for individual tasks, scheduling metrics, and playback days. The Calendar Manager has three separate views: The Calendar List, Edit Calendar View and the Calendar Month View. The Calendar List is used to manage all of the calendars in your project. After a calendar is created you can double click its name to rename it. The New button creates a new calendar. The Clone button copies the currently selected calendar. | |||||||
Deletes the associated calendar. | |||||||
The Default Calendar drop down menu selects the calendar that is automatically assigned to newly created tasks. The Playback Calendar drop down menu specifies the calendar that is used for playback in the Flythrough cinematic app and when playing the 4D construction sequence. | |||||||

When you have a calendar selected in the Calendar List information about the selected calendar will populate the Edit Calendar View. In the Edit Calendar View, you can add exception days as well as control working hours. To edit working hours for one day you must select it in the work week list. The Working Hours view will display a list of working hour durations for the day selected in the Work Week list. These durations repeat weekly. Exception days will not repeat weekly and allow for more detailed customization of the work calendar. The Default Working Hours determine the hours that are added to an empty Working Hours List. You can edit the hours in any working day by double clicking the start of the finish time. The fields at the bottom of the Edit Calendar View control the maximum number of hours for the given time frame. | |||||||
The Add Hours button adds a new duration to the working hours list for the currently selected week day. The Clear Hours button clears all working hours from the currently selected day. Add Exception Day adds an Exception day to the Exception Days List. | |||||||
The Calendar Month View displays visual information that reflects the specifications provided in the Edit Calendar button. Days that there are no working hours will be highlighted in red. Exceptions days will be highlighted in yellow. Normal working days will be highlighted in blue. To change the month in the view, use the arrow keys at the top of the window. |
Construction Zone Manager
This section demonstrates how to use the Construction Zone Manager to create and filter by zones.

---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
The Construction Zone Manager is a tab located within the 4D Simulation toolbox. To access it click the Zoning button shown to the right. The Construction Zone Manager can be used to create zones. Construction Zones are a useful way to organize your site. These zones can be used in filtering. Click the Create button and then click a place in the 3D space for one of your corners with the left mouse button. Then select a spot for an adjacent corner, lastly select an opposite corner to completely define the bounds of the zone. The Delete button removes the currently selected zone. The Edit button opens Transformation Tool to edit the currently selected zone. Double click the Name column of the zone to change it. Click the Color column of the zone to open up a color selector to specify a new color. The Transformation Tool allows you to manipulate the zone like any other 3D object. To filter by a zone, create a new filter in your Filter Tab, edit it and select zone from the drop down menu and select your newly created zone. This filter can then be used to populate your task with all of the objects located in your zone. |
